Privacy Policy
Skool Video Downloader — Last Updated: July 21, 2026
1. Introduction
Tailsgate Studios ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This policy describes how data is handled when you use the Skool Video Downloader Chrome Extension (the "Extension"). The short version: all video processing happens on your device, and we send your media nowhere.
2. Data Collection and Usage
No External Servers
Video streams are fetched directly from the source (Skool, Loom, Vimeo, YouTube, Wistia) to your device and merged locally. We never proxy, upload, or store your videos on any Tailsgate server.
No Tracking or Analytics
We collect no usage analytics or telemetry. Which lessons you download and which communities you visit remain entirely private. The extension makes a single anonymous version check (no identifiers of any kind) at most twice a day so it can tell you when an update is available, and a diagnostic problem report is sent only if you explicitly review and click “Send report”.
Local License Storage
Your free trial count and license status are stored locally using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data never leaves your browser.
Your Skool Login Stays Yours
The Extension uses your existing browser session to access member-only content. Your Skool credentials are never read, stored, or transmitted by the Extension.
3. Required Permissions
scripting& host access:Injects platform detectors on skool.com and reads the page's video data to identify Skool native, Loom, Vimeo, YouTube, and Wistia streams and their quality variants.
downloads:Saves the finished MP4 to your Downloads folder and keeps the progress tracker accurate.
offscreen:Runs the bundled merge engine in a background document to convert HLS segments into MP4 without freezing your lesson tab.
cookies&declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess:Reads authentication cookies for platforms that require a session, and re-attaches the correct request headers so token-gated streams can be fetched. Used only for the video hosts listed above.
storage, tabs, activeTab:Store license and download-manager state locally, and track active downloads across tab changes. Nothing is synced or transmitted.
4. License & Sign-in
Trial activation uses a one-time email code (OTP) — no passwords are stored. License purchases are processed by our payment provider; we receive only what is necessary to validate your license and never store payment card details.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if the Extension's functionality changes. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
